| I wanna learn how good this school is. If anyone has any idea, I will be happy. Is it prestigious? Is it difficult? And is it really Canada's MIT? How would you rank it among such schools as UofT and McGill? |

| Yes, it is one of the most prestigious universities in Canada. It is supposed to be the next MIT in North America within a couple of years. Courses are a little bit difficult, but I think you should do fine. |

| ^don't reply to yourself retard. UOIt has the easiest courses. they give you open book on finals that are worth 20% of your grade WTF is that. MIT of the north...f*** no. it's reputation is going nowhere if they continue to make exams worth 20% and allow open book exams. it's not difficult to do good. a monkey could get a 4.0 at uoit. and it's not prestigious....at leat not yet |

Uhhhh.. just cause it's got "Institute of technology" in its name, doesn't mean it'll be like MIT...
I don't know much about the school but it doesnt seem to have much of a reputation. I'd stick to a reputable school.
And the poster above me is an idiot. Open book finals in university? Maybe at Seneca but not in university. |

What is wrong with open book exams? We have open book exams at McGill.
Also, at the grad level, they always have open book exams when/if they have exams. I don't know much about UOIT, but the fact tht they have open book exams does not mean that it is easy. In fact, open book exams are always more difficult (at least at prestigious schools) since in those exams, just studying will not be enough, but you need to really learn the subject. |

Though UOIT is not yet as good as MIT, it will soon be there. It is still quite new. Wait a few years, and it is the new MIT. |

retard, ppl in that school all of a sudden become A students coming out of high school with C averages. how the hell do you explain that then. it's a corrupted school that makes you pay $2000/year for a laptop and you don't get to keep it in the end. you are also not allowed to bring your own in for use you have to use theirs.
and for open book exams they are obviously easier than non open books....you study less...the answers are all in front on you dumbass. |

As far as the saying goes, UOIT is the next MIT of North America, or the MIT of Canada.
Just as McGill is said to be the Harvard of the North, UOIT is the MIT of the North. Just like there is a reason why McGill is called that way (because McGill's is Canada's best), there is a reason why UOIT is called that way, too (because UOIT is the best in technology, just like MIT).
Period. |

^finally someone who see's through uoit as i do.
1. way to easy to get into...it's everyone's backup school
2. they have open book exams
3 their exams are worth a timbit of your final grade....20%
4. called next mit for what? because of name similarity
5. exams are way too elementary school oriented..too easy
6. want a 4.0...choose uoit.
a positive thing about uoit is that it does not "yet" have a reputation therefore can corret these large loopholes. you don't see too many A students flock to uoit...therefore most of their students were probably rejects from other schools |

I don't know about UOIT, but if it is true that it is a very new school, then, how can it be the next MIT? It is just impossible!! Even in the next 100 years, it is impossible...
However, I do not agree with the above posts in that having open book exams is an indication of how bad UOIT is. Open book exams are sometimes even more difficult; it depends on what school gives it and who the teachers and students are. Sometimes, it is quite difficult to do everything in an exam even when it is open book since they ask you to apply the info, not memorize it. |
