Hey guys, I know this might seem like a typical/arrogant question, but I was wondering with my following criteria, what would my chances of being accepted into McGill law be?

I am a Montreal resident

CRC (Cote-R): 30.061
Math CRC: 34.321 ( Cal I: 94%, Cal II: 93%. Linear Algebra: 95%)

Tons of volunteers work and work experience with the Royal Army Cadets. The only thing that makes me nervous is my overal CRC.

You may want to just check their website.

(an undergraduate degree and a GREAT Lsat score is a good start -- the marks you mentioned won't be considered at all).

way too low... I had a 34 CRC (Science) and I didn't even get an interview. Try UOttawa.

Talk to the people at the desk they'll tell you everything you know. Your CRC is low but you can try. They value your experiences and your letter will count for a lot.

You need to wiki the CEGEP system before you post a reply giving bad advice.

Your chances are low for common law. McGill doesn't require the LSAT but that's only to attract Francophone and civil law applicants. I assume you are fluent in French? Then apply to their joint civil-common program. Maybe you are mostly interested in civil, but that would be the first I've seen on an English language board. Actually it's too much of a gamble for me to say one way or another. A Francophone name and correspondence conducted in French would be in your favour. An Anglo name, correspondence in English, no LSAT, and an application right from CEGEP to common law is very unlikely to succeed.

Forget that man. Whatever his background, from CEGEP, with that kind of CRC there is no way in hell he'd get into Law. His best bet is to do another undergrad, do the LSAT and then apply.

Although your chances are probably low, there is a chance that you may be considered.

The person who had a 34 CRC in Science and wasn't called for an interview was likely nailed for another reason. A 34 CRC is a fantastic CRC, and the cutoff and lowest admission CRC is lower than a 34, so he wasn't rejected on the basis of grades.

To be honest, it seems as though Science kids often get the shaft when it comes to applying for law, given the Science program does not exercise critical thinking faculties in the form of essays, writing and other core skills law looks for.

People with 31-33 CRCs are accepted from time to time; it really has to do with your background (affirmative action), your letters of recommendation, and your letter of intent. So don't give up all hope; my CRC is going to be something like yours, but I'm going to apply anyway. Have a second option, and just reapply for law persistently.

My sister definitely did not have a 34 CRC, she probably had something around 32-33, and was accepted straight out of CEGEP from Liberal Arts. However, she had an outstanding volunteer record and a lethal letter of intent. Good luck, stay strong.
