This guy is obviously just mocking UOIT students. He's probably from Queen's or something and is purposely acting as a retarded UOIT student. |

This thread is a supplement to CalgaryGirl's. I'm creating it because my opinion would get lost somewhere on page 6 or 7 of her's.
There has been some poor moderation on this site recently. From past experience I believe I know who it is.
This forum has long had a tradition of little moderation except when it comes to spam. It differentiates this site from the other Canadian university forums. It is a large part of the attraction to many of the regulars, myself included, and why many of us continue coming here even after finishing undergrad. It is a mistake to bring in censorship and thread moving/deleting. The off-topic threads and comments add to the atmosphere.
Yes, that means that I am coming out in support of the racist and offensive posts.
It is not the responsibility of this forum's moderators to police potential breaches of Criminal Code of Canada Section 319: "Public Incitement of Hatred". Court rulings have made it clear that the duty of enforcing Canadian hate laws lies solely with Canadian law enforcement agencies. Subsection 3 of CCC Section 319 provides enough defences against prosecution of Subsections 1 and 2 that it is impossible for a layman to determine what is a violation and what is an individual's legitimate opinion. The Canadian hate laws are not designed to suppress racism; they are designed to outlaw incitements of violence and pogroms.
I fear the sudden concern over politically incorrect discussions is smokescreen to cover the suppression of certain other topics rubbing a particular individual the wrong way. What bothers me most is the individual in question goads on those topics and then reacts negatively when they feel frustrated. That is not acceptable behaviour.
I would like to remind this individual that they have previously admitted to such activity, particularly on the weekends after a few drinks. I advise that person to take a vacation from threads that irritate them before they destroy the atmosphere of this forum and turn it into another ghost town. |
It's already a "ghost town", can't you see it? A couple of habitués who try to rein over a bunch of uncontrollable idiots diluted with a flow of people who come and leave (you have no incentive to stay if you're not registered, if you can say whatever you want to anyone who will never know who you were and to whom (s)he can respond. It's actually frustrating and feels like in a mirror room. |
